Four Australian universities impress in 2025 edition of Times Higher Education World University Rankings

Four Australian universities have impressed in the 2025 edition of Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The University of New South Wales, Macquarie University, Deakin University and Federation University Australia all increased their position in the latest list. For the University of New South Wales, it also follows impressive results in the QS World University Rankings by Subject, where 19 subjects placed in the top 50 worldwide and 10 at number one in Australia.

Macquarie University Vice-Chancellor Professor S Bruce Dowton said: “As a university, we serve to transform and improve lives through innovative education, research and healthcare. This result is testament to the dedication and resolve of our university community in achieving this mission.”

In the 2025 rankings, Times Higher Education assessed over 2,000 research-intensive universities across 115 countries. The evaluation covers five key pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.
