Australian universities make impression in 2025 QS World Rankings table

Australian universities have made a huge impression on the 2025 QS World University Rankings, with all institutions in the global top 50 equalling or improving their rank.

The University of Melbourne reached a historic high of 13th, the University of Sydney rose to 18th, and the University of New South Wales remained at 19th. 38 Australian universities received rankings, with nine in the top 100 and three in the top 20.

The 2025 QS World University Rankings are the most used global rankings and measure a university’s global reputation. Universities are scored in areas such as Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty Student Ratio, Citations per Faculty, International Faculty Ratio, International Students Ratio, International Research Network, Employment Outcomes and Sustainability.
